• Use this fun book to get students to think what would they do it they had feet like reindeers.
• Ask "¿Para qué usarían sus pezuñas?"

• Together, look at the headline on pages 2-3: ¡Cava, cava! and ¡Come, come! Ask children to point to each c, and circle it.
• Then brainstorm more words that start with c, such as casa, cuerda, cartón, and cuerpo.

• At the top of a sheet of chart paper, write Si fuera un reno... Then have children take turns completing the sentence as you record their responses.
• Children can mine the issue for information, using both text and photos. For instance: Si fuera un reno, usaría mis astas para raspar el hielo; Si fuera un reno, tendría la piel marrón; and so on.

Skill: writing

Materials: Haz un títere de reno skill sheet, scissors, crayons, brown paper lunch bag, googly eyes, black paper circles, glue

• Give each child a lunch bag and a copy of the skill sheet. Have kids cut out the antlers and color them brown. (If you like, kids can create antlers by tracing their hands on brown construction paper instead.)
• Next, kids can add googly eyes and a black paper nose to the bag’s bottom to create the reindeer’s face.
• Finally, have children write one thing they learned about reindeer to complete the sentence in the box. They can glue or tape it to the front of their puppet. Kids can put on puppet shows and share their facts!
