Simple, spectacular ideas to boost your lessons.

• In this simple book in English, children are introduced to different military moms and the jobs they do.

• As a class, write a thank-you letter to veterans on chart paper. You can thank them for being strong, doing brave things, and helping to keep our country safe. Let kids come up to write individual letters or words as they are able.
• When the letter is finished, roll it up and tie it with a ribbon. Deliver it to your local VA to brighten the veterans’ days!

• ¡Veterano comienza con V! Together, find and circle words that have the letter v in them. Read the words aloud. Which words have the v sound at the beginning, and which have it at the end?

Materials: poster board, markers, cardboard boxes, variety of art materials

• Have your own Veterans Day parade around the school! Kids can make posters and signs with patriotic stickers and decorations.
• Kids can also make homemade “floats”! Just decorate carboard boxes with red, white, and blue art materials (streamers, pom-poms, tissue). Put a stuffed animal inside and attach a string handle for pulling.
• On the day of the parade, kids can dress in red, white, and blue. Have kids march down the hall with their signs and floats as you play patriotic music on your phone!
