  • Create a winter word wall! You can include words such as chilly, snowy, mittens, cozy, icicles, and hot cocoa.
  • Use the words to write a winter story together.

Hands-on Activity: Make a Winter Den

Materials: blankets pillows, classroom furniture, fan

  • Invite kids to use tables, chairs, blankets, pillows, and so on to make a warm winter "den."
  • Then help them test their design to see if it keeps out the cold winter air! Have kids go inside the den. Point an electric fan at the den. Can kids feel the breeze? If so, they need to adjust their design.
