- Watch the video That’s My Job!
- Afterward, ask, “Who is one worker you have seen in your neighborhood? What is his or her job?”
- Read the issue together.
- Then move like community workers. Just click the pink Dance Break button and follow along.
- Have children complete the Show What You Know skill sheet to assess comprehension.
- Learn new vocabulary with our Search and Find game.
- Build basic concepts of print as well as beginning writing skills with our Unscramble the Sentence skill sheet.

Materials: paper (regular, construction, chart, or craft), pencils, markers
- In school: Choose a group of workers you’d like to thank. You can take a class vote! Write a letter as a class on chart paper. Use the magazine for ideas on what to write. For example, you might thank sanitation workers for keeping the streets clean and thank nurses for caring for people when they are sick. Then send or bring the letter to hospitals, stores, and so on.
- At home: Write individual letters or create posters to thank workers in your community. Hang your thank-yous on your doors or in your windows to show your appreciation!
